Prize winner of the international violin competitions David Oistrakh, Carl Flesch and Johannes Brahms, Julia Turnovsky made her debut as a soloist at the age of 13 with the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz. Since then she has performed with numerous orchestras such as the Japan Century Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Chamber Philharmonic, the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, the Savaria Symphony Orchestra, the Slovakian Sinfonietta Zilina, the Solistes Européens Luxembourg, the Gunma Symphony Orchestra, the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra, the Camerata Salzburg and the North German Philharmonic Rostock under the direction of Michael Hofstetter, Johannes Wildner, Martin Turnovsky and Pablo Gonzáles.

Previous solo and chamber music debuts have taken Julia Turnovsky to renowned festivals such as the Prague Spring Festival, the Menuhin Festival Gstaad, the Festival Musique de Chambre à Giverny, the Haydn Festival Eisenstadt and the Festspiele Mecklenburg- Vorpommern, as well as in concert halls such as the Wiener Musikverein, the Wiener Konzerthaus, the Mozarteum Salzburg, the Rudolfinum Prague and the Philharmonie Luxemburg. In addition, Julia Turnovsky has performed as a chamber musician with well- known musicians such as Julian Rachlin, Daniel Hope, Jean Claude Vanden Eynden, Ettore Causa, Jacques Ammon, Julia Hagen, Candida Thompson, Yibai Chen, Harriet Krijgh and Matthias Schorn.

In addition to chamber music and solo activities, she gained experience in various orchestras and ensembles such as the UTOPIA Orchestra, the NDR Radiophilharmonie and the Wiener Virtuosen, under conductors such as Teodor Currentzis, Andrew Manze, Ingo Metzmacher and Pierre Bleuse.

Julia Turnovsky was born in Vienna and comes from a family of musicians. She received her first violin lessons at the age of five. In the years 2000-2014 she was taught by Prof. Boris Kuschnir at the Konservatorium Wien University and at the Kunstuniversität Graz.

She plays the violin ''Giovanni Battista Guadagnini, Turin 177*'', kindly provided to her by the Austrian National Bank.
